The main goal of the project “Improving the quality of social services and support services for LGBT people and their parents” is to ensure favourable conditions of the overall existence and full social acceptance of people with different sexual orientation and gender identity. The specific goal of the project which has included activities defined by curriculum involves raising awareness of social workers, persons employed in the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, and students of social work on issues related to different sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

The main project activities have two aims: to ensure a safe and supportive family environment for LGBT people and to ensure that social services and social welfare authority provide support to LGBT people. They imply the following: implementation of the education of social workers and students of social work on the topic of human rights of LGBT people, sexual and gender identity, production and distribution of informative and educational materials for social workers, as well as for social work students.

The project was implemented in 2013.

During the implementation of the project, the following activities were carried out:

- Creation of informative and educational materials for social workers and social work students. This activity implied the creation of posters and handbooks for social workers and social policy and social work programme students. Promotional and informative component of this activity was aimed at improving knowledge of social workers and social work students about tolerance and respect for diversity, the project and its activities and achieved results. Additionally, educational material component implied answers to questions concerning the concept of sexual orientation and language that was monitored, social and emotional well-being of LGBT people, mechanisms of homophobia, sexual orientation as a human right, but also the importance of the role of social workers in a tolerant and supportive family environment for the formation of healthy individual and useful member of society. 

- Implementation of the training for 20 social workers and social work students on the topic of LGBT human rights, and sexual and gender identity. This activity was aimed at informing, hence increasing the sensitivity of social workers, as well as students of social policy and social work with respect to matters related to sexual orientation, mechanisms of homophobia, sexual orientation as a human right, the importance of work in the area of tolerant and supportive family environment for the formation of a healthy individual and useful member of society. Within the promotion and protection of human rights, Juventas team members, together with the involved professionals, contributed to increasing the level of knowledge of participants, and thus indirectly increased the level of knowledge of those with whom participants have closer communication. During the training for the first time he spoke for social workers and students and parents of a child whose sexual orientation is different from heterosexual, who lives and works in Montenegro.
