From 7 to 11 February 2011, Budva, Montenegro.

Within the project “Capacity Building for Effective Youth Participation in the Decision Making Process: Building the capacity of student parliaments in Montenegro”, a seminar was held in Budva at Hotel Residence, Miločer, from 7 to 11 February 2011. The seminar was attended by 18 high school students from Pljevlja, Podgorica, Tuzi and Ulcinj, three representatives of the informal group of high school students, the founder of the Union of High School Students of Montenegro - UNSCG, as well as a guest from Bosnia and Herzegovina, representative of the Association of High School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina - ASuBiH.

High school students are representatives of four high schools:

  • Secondary School of Economics “Mirko Vešović” from Podgorica;
  • Secondary Mixed School “Bratstvo jedinstvo” from Ulcinj
  • Grammar School “25. maj” from Tuzla;
  • Grammar School “Tanasije Pejatović” from Pljevlja.

During these four days, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the functioning of the student parliament, as well as with the basics of public relations and project writing. In addition, the participants themselves created and wrote four small projects related to their student parliaments and prepared themselves for implementation. Participation of the founders of the Union of High School Students of Montenegro (UNSCG) and the representative of the Association of High School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AsuBiH) enabled the participants to find out on the examples of their activities why it is important to be part of the student parliament of their school.

Evaluations from the training showed that this experience contributed to the participation of participants in the development of the personality of these young people, their education and the development of new knowledge and skills; therefore, we hope to contribute to better school results. This project enabled the interaction between young people of different cultural and social backgrounds, which affected the reduction of prejudices and the multicultural learning of all involved. The entire project will be presented at the press conference at the end of the project.
