In cooperation with the Union of High School Students of Montenegro, NGO Juventas is starting the implementation of the “Join Youth Voices” project, which is funded by the Schüler Helfen Leben (SHL) Foundation (www.schueler-helfen-leben.de).

The main objective of the project is to strengthen the democratic potential of young people in Montenegro and their active participation in society, through the construction of a national umbrella organization consisting of student parliaments of all Montenegrin high schools.

As the initial activity of the project, a panel discussion with student parliaments and other students in all secondary schools in Montenegro is planned in order to present them to the Union of High School Students of Montenegro and promote the idea of further work of the Union as an umbrella organization, which would be the main factor for the participation of high school students in the decision-making process when it comes to youth policy.

The main part of the project is the national annual conference, which will include 100 participants from all Montenegrin students’ parliaments, which is planned for February 2015. The conference will be attended by representatives of the Union of High School Students from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, who will transfer their experiences to our high school students. At the conference, the new management of the Union of High School Students of Montenegro will be selected, for which the training for strengthening the organizational capacities will be organized later.

It is important to emphasize that apart from acquiring knowledge and experience from colleagues from Montenegro and the region, all selected participants of the conference will have the opportunity to apply for membership and work in the Union of High School Students in Montenegro. In order for the work of the Union to be sustainable, it has been planned to the organize meetings and sign a memorandum of cooperation between the representatives of the Union of High School Students of Montenegro and the Ministry of Education of Montenegro and the Directorate for Youth and Sports. The entire project will also be presented at the final press conference.
