Within the project “Assistance Program for the Integration and Return of RAE and other I/RLs Living in Konik Neighborhood”, Juventas carried out workshops on civil rights with adults from Camp I and Camp II in Konik neighborhood. The workshops were held once a week for two hours at the HELP’s facilities in Camp I, as well as in the Red Cross premises at Camp II.

Workshops were attended by 7 or 8 participants on average, who had the opportunity to learn more about human rights with the help of leaders and three Roma assistants. A total of 11 workshops were held, including 86 participants. Importance of education, personal documents and employment were mostly covered. With their knowledge in these fields, the participants contributed to the successful implementation of the workshops, but also to discovering the main problem faced by the Roma population in Montenegro, and especially Roma living in a refugee neighborhood on the Vrela Ribnicka.

The workshops started by a formal introduction of all participants, both men and women. During the conversation, the workshop moderator requested the participants’  opinion on what a person needs to be happy. Their very interested answers involved issues related to education, employment and human rights, leading to further discussion among all participants. This helped them create positive attitudes about the importance of timely and continuing education.

When it comes to the protection of human rights, the participants were provided with all the necessary information on how they can exercise the rights, which  were denied to them in many cases because of racial discrimination against this population. We believe that workshops have enabled participants to understand the importance of their children finishing school and become useful members of the community.

In December 2013, within the framework of the project “Assistance Program for Integration and Return of RAE and other I/RLs Living in Konik Neighborhood”, Juventas launched workshops on civil rights intended for young Roma between age 10 and 16 from the Konik refugee neighbourhood. The workshops aim at providing training to young people on civil rights, with special emphasis on children's rights and the importance of education. The workshops have been held in the premises of the PR Center and they are moderated by the expert team of the NGO Juventas. The workshops are held three times a week for 90 to 120 minutes, and they consist of three modules.

The first module refers to a formal introduction of the workshop participants, who are  introduced with each others’ fears, attitudes and desires through a variety of games. Also, participants learn the communication skills and ways of achieving it. The pictures of the successfully implemented first module of the workshop are available bellow:
