The project “Improving the quality of services for LGBT people“ was launched on 1 November 2011, with the main aim of promoting and protecting human rights of LGBT people in Montenegro. Specific objectives of this project included the capacity building of staff employed in the institutions responsible for providing protection from discrimination, and which come in touch with LGBT people through their work, and capacity building of LGBT activists with regard to activism.

All activities during the project implementation were carried out in collaboration with a group of Juventas’ LGBT activists, who took part in three rounds of consultations, whose results  together with results of a survey carried out among service providers, were the basis for creating plans for trainings, seminars and preparation of manuals for professionals.

During the project implementation, the following activities were carried out:

  1. 4 manuals have been prepared for work with LGBT people, for:

  • employees of the Institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro, judges and prosecutors;

  • police;

  • medical workers;

  • psychologists;

  1. Anti-discrimination campaigns and researches about the level of homophobia and homosexuality perception were conducted among police officers and medical workers. The campaign materials among police officers and medical workers are available on this link;

  2. A two-day seminar on human rights of LGBT people was conducted for employees of the Institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro;

  3. A two-day seminar on human rights of LGBT people was conducted for judges, prosecutors and police officers from all three regions of Montenegro;

  4. A two-day seminar on human rights of LGBT people was conducted  for medical workers from all three regions of Montenegro;

  5. A two-day training for writing projects for EU funding was conducted  for LGBT activists;

  6. A two-day training for Strategic Planning was conducted for LGBT activists;

  7. A two-day training dealing with human rights and activism was conducted  for LGBT activists;

  8. Three rounds of consultations were conducted with a group of 10 LGBT persons, as well as a campaign that was created by LGBT people.
