Gender identity and sexual orientation in theory and practice

 

A handbook entitled “Gender identity and sexual  orientation in theory and practice -Handbook for Practitioners” whose author is Marijana Laković, Deputy Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms, was created under the project “Improving the quality of services for LGBT people”. The project is financially supported by the British Embassy in Podgorica and implemented by Juventas with the aim of promoting  the protection of human rights of LGBT people in Montenegro.

“This handbook sums up the basic information about sexual orientation and gender identity, perception of gender identity and sexual orientation by the general population, national legislation, the necessary modifications of national legislation, international recommendations, practice of the European Court for Human Rights and the European Court of Justice, and therefore represents a comprehensive reminder to practitioners when they find themselves in a situation that can and should protect the rights of lesbian, gays, bisexual and/or transgender people.”

It is  comprehensive and provides an explanation of social circumstances that lead to homophobic  violence, but also shows in detail the legislation which regulates this field ...”
